The New Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions, a time to dream in, manifest, whatever you wish to bring into your life. It is a time to sow the seeds of desire.
This process can be as simple or elaborate as you wish, here is an easy way.
All you need is some quite time, make sure the phone is switched off or at least on silent, (including vibrate!) I’d always recommend you “smudge” or “cleanse” yourself. The most common and easiest way to do this is to light some white sage, allow it to smoke and then waft yourself, including the soles of your feet and under your armpits with the sage smoke. This cleanses, purifies and protects you and your aura. If you don’t have any sage, wash your hands and visualise a clear bright white light all around you.
Then make yourself comfortable, either sitting or lying, making sure the space is warm and cosy with no tv or anything to disturb you. Let whoever you share your house with know that you would like some quiet time and you’ll let them know when you’re finished.
Take some nice slow deep breaths, you might like to do the first 3 breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth, with a big sigh letting go of anything that you’ve been caught up in that day. Then allow yourself to sink into the silence, just allowing that natural rise and fall of the breath, feeling the breath in the body, in the chest, belly, sides of the body and the back of your body, just allowing yourself to fall into the breath and the quiet.
Then ask your inner self what do you wish for, your inner knowing will know the answer, your heart will know the answer and then just ask for it, sending it out there into the universe. Saying the words out loud gives them more power. Just say whatever it is that has come to you. Then stay with that wish, goal, dream, desire, visualise yourself doing/being that intention. Stay with it as long as you wish, it only need be a few minutes.
Thank yourself for taking this time out, then get on with your day.
Yes, it really can be that simple!
Yes you can make it more elaborate, you can set up an altar, you can light candles, write on paper, burn paper, have flowers, crystals, essential oils, flower essences and so on. I don’t dispute for one moment that all those things are beautiful and can make for a more magical ceremony or ritual, but sometimes our time is short, the children need putting to bed, dinner needs cooking, the washing needs doing, our lists are endless. Many people tell me they don’t have time to wish upon a moon, yes you do I say, just make it simple, make it short but sweet. The intention is in your heart and that’s all you need that a few minutes of your time.
